We are delighted to express our appreciation for an anonymous donation to the NYU Shanghai Education Development Foundation. The gift will be allocated to an expendable named fund in celebration of NYU Shanghai’s 10th anniversary, to provide funding to support the Center for Applied Social and Economic Research (CASER).
This fund will be used to support CASER’s core missions and new initiatives: to subsidize publication cost of the journal co-published by CASER, to promote the Center’s research on child development, family and gender, to support the publicity of research projects, as well as other summer academic exchanges in alignment with Center’s missions.
The Center for Applied Social and Economic Research (CASER) at NYU Shanghai was established in Nov 19, 2020. The Center is dedicated to fostering methodologically rigorous, multi-disciplinary research on the most pressing issues related to China’s socioeconomic development. CASER convenes scholars from multiple disciplines to conduct research based on quantitative analysis in focus areas such as education, family and gender, inequality and poverty, migration, population aging and health, as well as urban neighborhood and governance issues. The Center currently hosts the editorial offices of the Chinese Sociological Review (ISSN: 2162-0555 [print], ISSN: 2162-0563 [online]) and a recently launched journal in Chinese 《城市与社会学刊》(Journal of Cities and Society, ISSN 2957-4099), and has organized the Summer School in Applied Social Science Research Methods (Advanced Courses) every year since 2021. CASER will also host the Summer Institute in Computational Social Science in Shanghai on June 26 – July 2, 2023.
For more information of the Center’s activities, please read the CASER’s bilingual annual reports here: Annual Report – CASER | NYU Shanghai.
