Data and Information Management Specialist

The Center for Applied Social and Economic Research (CASER) at NYU Shanghai is dedicated to fostering methodologically rigorous, multi-disciplinary research on the most pressing issues related to China’s socioeconomic development. CASER convenes scholars from multiple disciplines to conduct research based on quantitative analysis in focus areas such as education, family and gender, inequality and poverty, migration, population aging and health, as well as urban neighborhood and governance issues.

The candidate will play a key role in building the Center’s capacity in survey data collection, documentation, and integration and facilitate the work the Center has planned, including existing projects and new data collection projects. He/she will work closely with Center Director and project teams to support all technical aspects of survey and data management and archiving.

上海纽约大学应用社会经济研究中心成立于2020年11月19日,中心旨在通过严谨的定量分析方法以及跨学科、国际化的视角来研究当今社会经济发展的重要议题。中心汇聚多学科相关领域的顶尖学者,聚焦教育、家庭与性别、不平等与贫困、移民、人口老龄化与健康以及城市社区和管理等重点领域。

该技术人员将与中心主任,成员及项目团队密切合作,负责构建研究中心的数据基础设施,提升研究中心的数据采集、存储、管理及整合能力; 对数据基础设施进行日常维护,确保其安全,高效的运作; 为中心项目提供技术支持,推动项目的顺利开展。

主要职责

问卷调查系统开发 (50%)

  • 根据项目的需求, 用Blaise及其它开源软件搭建数据采集系统:包括计算机辅助面访系统(CAPI)和计算机辅助电话调查系统(CATI),以应用于不同的调查模式,包括在线调查,电话调查,微信调查, 面访等;
  • 为研究中心的所有项目提供技术支持,包括问卷电子化, 问卷测试,后台修改,客户端管理,数据存储及导出等;
  • 通过与合作机构及内部相关部门的沟通与协作,开发符合研究中心项目需求的系统及相关技术产品。

数据存档及管理 (30%)

  • 为数据的归档及管理提供技术支持。 所涉及的数据主要来源于中心项目(包括HKPSSD, SUNS, 和即将开展的SEEDS项目等)及国内其他数据源。该技术人员将协助实现中心数据及相关城市数据的定制使用及可视化,为相关用户提供上海,中国大陆及更广泛区域趋势数据的便捷通道;
  • 准确、高效地存储及导出调查数据,并协助建立数据质量管控机制;

数据系统日常维护  (15%)

  • 为中心数据采集系统的软硬件设备提供定期维护、检测及故障排查,使数据系统处于良好的工作状态;
  • 在中心项目开展阶段及调查过程中提供及时有效的技术支援。

建立中心数据管理知识库  (5%)

  • 汇总及更新中心数据管理相关技术信息,建立中心数据管理知识库,有效积累相关技术知识;
  • 在中心项目开展阶段,为项目组成员提供必要的技术信息分享及培训。

岗位要求

教育经历

  • 全日制本科学士学位及以上,相关专业及技术领域

所需经验

  • 两年以上相关领域工作经验

所需知识,技能及能力

  • 熟悉powerbuilder#, SQL, Blaise, JAVA, C#, Javascript, asp.net 等语言的应用及操作
  • 了解地理信息系统(GIS)者优先
  • 良好的英语及普通话表达及写作能力
  • 较强的沟通及组织能力
  • 快速学习及应用能力

Post-doctoral Fellow

The Center for Applied Social and Economic Research (CASER) at New York University Shanghai seeks a Postdoctoral Fellow to work on research projects based on the urban household panel data collected in China. The successful candidate is expected to become an active member of the Center’s research team, led by Center Director, Professor Xiaogang Wu.

Research Project Manager

The Chief Scientist at NYU Shanghai is recruiting a Research Project Manager for “Growing up in China: Cohort 2021 Study” at NYU Shanghai. This is a 2-year renewable appointment. Specifically, the successful applicant will work with the Chief Scientist in coordination with a group of faculty from multiple disciplines to design and implement the project and conduct a pilot study.

Urban Studies, Tenured/Tenure-track

NYU Shanghai invites applications for a position at the rank of assistant, associate, or full professor in Urban Studies. We seek candidates who have received training in a social science discipline and can conduct cutting-edging interdisciplinary research on a variety of urban issues, with a special interest in those whose research incorporates spatial analysis and/or urban data analytics. Preference will be given to those interested in conducting research relevant to the China/Asia context. The successful candidate will contribute to the curriculum development and join a growing interdisciplinary group of faculty and researchers in Urban Studies from the Social Sciences, Humanities, the Arts, Data Science, and Engineering at NYU Shanghai.
