Postdoctoral Fellow of Social Science

The Center for Applied Social and Economic Research (CASER) at NYU Shanghai is now seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to work on research projects based on the panel survey data that the research team has collected in Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Guangzhou, and new research initiative on early childhood development and social inequality in Shanghai and neighboring regions.

The successful candidate is expected to become an active member in the Center’s research team, led by the Center director (Prof. Xiaogang Wu). Responsibilities include assisting in organizing research workshops and summer training programs, participating in journal editorial activities, conducting research on panel survey data the Center has collected in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Guangzhou on relevant themes, publishing articles in both Chinese and English peer reviewed journals, coordinating data collection projects, and pursuing her/his own professional development in these roles.

Open-rank Professor of Practice in Social Science (Public Policy)

NYU Shanghai is currently inviting applications for a Full-time Continuing Contract (FTCC) faculty position in public policy (open-rank), to start in Fall, 2023. We seek candidates who can teach Foundation of Public Policy at the undergraduate level, other courses of their own expertise, and contribute to the curriculum development in public policy. We are especially interested in scholars who can work effectively in multidisciplinary teams and environments.

Open-rank Professor of Practice in Social Science(Computational Social Science)

NYU Shanghai is currently inviting applications for a Full-time Continuing Contract (FTCC) faculty position in computational social science (open-rank), to start in Fall, 2023. We seek candidates who can teach Introduction to Computational Social Science at the undergraduate level, other related courses that apply computational methods to study human and social behavior, and contribute to the curriculum development in computational social science programs at NYU Shanghai. We are especially interested in scholars who can work effectively in multidisciplinary teams and environments.

Tenured/Tenure-track Positions in Sociology

NYU Shanghai is currently inviting applications for two open rank positions in Sociology to start in Fall 2023. We seek candidates who have completed or will complete a Ph.D. in Sociology or a closely related discipline by September 2023. We invite applications from candidates in any field, including those with expertise in child development and life course, computational social science inequality and poverty, family and gender, migration/immigration. Successful candidates will also be able to leverage the resources at the Center for Applied Social and Economic Research (CASER).
