New Publication Examines the Social Consequences of Homeownership with Empirical Evidence

In a new article published in Social Forces, one of the most prestigious journals in sociology, CASER researchers Jia Miao and Xiaogang Wu investigated how home ownership affects life satisfaction and subjective class identification in Hongkong. They used the Home Ownership Scheme in the city (a large-scale subsidized homeownership program based on a random draw) as a quasi-experimental setting to identify the causal impact of housing homeownership.
