CASER at NYU Shanghai to Host the 2024 Spring Meeting of ISA-RC28

The Center for Applied Social and Economic Research (CASER) at NYU Shanghai has been selected by the board of the International Sociological Association (ISA) Research Committee in Social Stratification and Mobility (RC28) to host its 2024 Spring Meeting, tentatively scheduled from May 24-26, 2024.

RC28 is the 28th Research Committee established under the ISA, with the objectives to      advance      high quality research on social stratification and social mobility, and to promote the international exchange of scientific information in the field of Sociology.  Since its establishment in 1960, RC 28 has not only contributed tremendously to the advancement of social stratification and mobility research, but has also formed a dynamic academic community, attracting leading scholars in the field to converge and collaborate.  It organizes two meetings every year. This will be the second time RC28 has held a meeting in mainland China, following the 2009 meeting in Beijing.

The theme of the 2024 conference is “Life Course and Social Inequality in Comparative Perspective.” As in previous years, the meeting will bring together leading social scientists from across the world and feature keynote speakers and panel discussions with renowned scholars.

Professor Xiaogang Wu, the Yufeng Global Professor of Social Science and Director of the Center for Applied Social and Economic Research (CASER) at NYU Shanghai commented that, “RC 28 is a unique and esteemed place where leading scientists in the field of social stratification and mobility will get together.  We are honored to host this significant event and look forward to welcoming our colleagues from across the world for this exciting occasion” The conference will be held on the new campus of NYU Shanghai in Qiantan.
