Focusing on social forces as a fundamental cause of health inequality, three major themes define my scholarship. The first theme investigates migrants’ lack of full citizenship rights in their migration destinations as a cause of various health disparities in late life. The second theme assesses the consequences of family living arrangements and offspring migration for the health and well-being of older adults and their communities. The third theme examines how early life experience, such as migration and job loss, may leave an imprint on the various health outcomes and health behaviors in later life.
