Yizhou Ye earned his PhD in Urban Governance and Design from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 2024. His research interests include urban sociology, migration, child development, and social inequality, with a particular focus on the neighborhood effect in Chinese metropolises such as Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Guangzhou. Yizhou’s work integrates social survey with external data, including census-based demographics, a variety of geographical data, and street view data, to provide a comprehensive understanding of the place effect on urban life. He is experienced in designing, conducting, managing, and maintaining large-scale urban surveys and has been deeply involved in several projects, including Hong Kong Panel Study of Social Dynamics, Guangzhou Metropolitan Panel Survey, and the Hong Kong Child Development Longitudinal Study.
